Presidents and Pumpkins
The 2008 curriculum's focus is "Presidents and Pumpkins". Your students will learn that our "Founding Fathers" were actually our "Founding Farmers".
Stop at the Gem Mine for a Soils Lesson, then on to the Water Cycle at the Windmill. A lesson in the Discovery Garden, led by Dr. H. Prentice Baptiste's New Mexico State University Education Majors paves the way for the Outdoor Classroom and a "Time Line Trip" through the Corn Maze. Enjoy the Playground; take a Hayride to the Pumpkin Patch, where everyone attending can pick a free pumpkin to take home, and then relax while having your school lunch in one of our shady picnic areas.
Standards and Benchmarks for grade K - 5 (New Mexico and Texas) are included with every lesson in our curriculum, with the actual field trip standards identified in lesson 3

Helpful Field Trip Information for Teachers
In order to expedite check-in, we suggest that one teacher from your group handle funds for the entire group. They will be given a receipt, wristbands and pumpkin stickers for each person.
Closed toed shoes, caps and sunscreen are strongly recommended.
The complete field trip takes 3 to 3.5 hours.
Plan about 20 minutes for your hayride.
The Maze is not responsible for personal items, including lunch coolers.
Please make sure your Bus Driver has a copy of our downloadable map. Found here
It is a good idea to provide your Bus Driver with a cell phone number in case of unforeseen situations.
